Excursion Overview

A private adventure for up to 7 guests in scenic Sitka

Sitka’s exclusive concierge-level private land tour, where we handle everything from the moment you step off the ship. Enjoy a delicious, authentic local meal, personal connections, and unforgettable experiences.

Skip the crowds with guaranteed on-time returns and a stress-free day. Your guide meets you at the port (morning tours) or your accommodation, whisking you away on a customizable journey. Afternoon tours start with a shuttle to explore downtown before your guided tour.

We adapt the route based on weather and group preferences, exploring scenic forest trails, hidden waterfalls, and nearly all of Sitka’s road system. Our exclusive permits allow access to special trails managed by the US Forest Service, State of Alaska, and City of Sitka.

Travel in comfort with a group of up to 7 in our hybrid Toyota Sienna (larger groups available). Pre-order a meal from Misfit Island Café and enjoy a picnic at the harbor, National Historic Park, or downtown. The tour includes a visit to the Fortress of the Bears for a guided experience with these amazing creatures.

Please note: Children who are required to have a car seat by Alaska state law are unable to attend this tour.

Things You Need to Know

Inclusions:

• Roundtrip transportation from the cruise ship dock or local accommodations

• A pre-ordered meal from Misfit Island Café, served picnic-style to eat before or after your tour at the harbor, National Historic Park, or downtown.

Requirements:

• A maximum of 7 guests may join the private adventure

Duration: 2 hours (Roundtrip from cruise ship dock.)

• 90 minutes - roundtrip narrated scenic drive with several stops to forest trails and scenic waterfalls
  
• 30 minutes - at the Fortress of the Bears
  

Meeting Instructions:

• This tour meets at your cruise ship dock or local accommodations. Fully detailed instructions are included on your finalized ticket vouchers.
  

ADA Accessibility of Tour:

• This tour is limited mobility accessible. We can accommodate a foldable walker and we offer a step stool for easy access in and out of our vehicles. Please leave a comment during checkout if you plan to bring accessibility equipment on this excursion.

• You may cancel for any reason up to seven (7) days prior to the date of the tour for a full refund.

Tours can be canceled for any reason up until seven (7) days prior to the date of the tour for a full refund unless otherwise noted on the individual tour product page in the Things to Know section. To cancel a tour, please use the cancelation request link within your e-ticket that was emailed to you OR send an email to info@alaskashoreexcursions.com with the following information:

- Order number

- Tour you are canceling

- Number of passengers you wish to cancel

Within 0-7 days before the tour date, cancelations are eligible for a full refund only in the following scenarios:

- The tour is canceled by the tour operator for any reason (for example: bad weather or mechanical issue)

- You experience a medical emergency during this window and can provide documentation (documentation must be submitted within 30 days to receive a refund)

- Your ship changes port itineraries causing you to miss an excursion

All refunds are processed through Alaska Shore Excursions, and will not be processed through any cruise line or local tour provider. Refunds will appear under Alaska Shore Excursions on your bank/credit card statement. Credit card refunds are processed within 10 business days of the request. Exceptions to the refund policy include multi-day packages and some day tours. Please refer to the specific refund policy listed on the individual tour product page.

Are there any physical requirements for this tour?

Guests must be comfortable climbing steps and able to get in and out of the ground transportation.

What type of clothing should I wear?

Layered clothing is always recommended. Comfortable shoes, waterproof outer wear, hats, gloves, rain gear, sunglasses.

Will I see any wildlife or bears on this tour?

Wildlife is abundant in Southeast Alaska and sightings are possible on any tour, however, this is not a designated wildlife tour and nothing can be guaranteed. The Fortress of the Bears is home to several bears you'll encounter at this sanctuary.
