Excursion Overview

Half day adventure to Exit Glacier overlook and panning for gold

Seward's Exit Glacier is an impressive view as you enjoy the Alaskan scenery on a 2.5-hour roundtrip hike to the Exit Glacier Overlook. The beautiful hike is paired with a gold panning demonstration and a chance to strike gold.

While you won't take a step on the ice, the panoramic views of the Exit Glacier make for an incredible photo opportunity. Your interpretive guide will share glacier knowledge and the history of the area. The hike is classified as easy to moderate and trekking pole/s are provided.

Post trek, it's time to put on your prospector's hat and try your luck at gold panning. Learn how Gold panning played a large part in Alaska's growth and development. Guests will enjoy a demonstration and gold panning fun at Clear Creek.

Things You Need to Know

Inclusions:

• Courtesy shuttle from Seward area hotels, lodges, and campground with advanced notice
• Professional guide with first aid training (wilderness First Responder Certifications), communication gear
• Snacks
• Trekking pole/s
• Shuttle to Glacier

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 required to book
• Wear warm layers, water-resistant/waterproof shoes and warm socks
• Guests should be comfortable hiking for up to two hours on uneven surfaces. This is an easy to moderate hike.

Duration: 4 hours (From local tour provider's office in Seward)

• 30 minutes - Shuttle to Exit Glacier grounds
• 2.5 hours - roundtrip hike to Exit Glacier overlook
• 60 minutes - Gold panning adventure at Clear Creek before tours end or return shuttle transportation to Seward area accommodations

Meeting Instructions:

• This tour departs from 31872 Herman Leirer Rd, Seward, AK 99664. Courtesy shuttles are provided from the Seward city area. Fully detailed instructions are included on your finalized ticket vouchers.

Tours can be canceled for any reason up until seven (7) days prior to the date of the tour for a full refund unless otherwise noted on the individual tour product page in the Things to Know section. To cancel a tour, please use the cancelation request link within your e-ticket that was emailed to you OR send an email to info@alaskashoreexcursions.com with the following information:

- Order number

- Tour you are canceling

- Number of passengers you wish to cancel

Within 0-7 days before the tour date, cancelations are eligible for a full refund only in the following scenarios:

- The tour is canceled by the tour operator for any reason (for example: bad weather or mechanical issue)

- You experience a medical emergency during this window and can provide documentation (documentation must be submitted within 30 days to receive a refund)

- Your ship changes port itineraries causing you to miss an excursion

All refunds are processed through Alaska Shore Excursions, and will not be processed through any cruise line or local tour provider. Refunds will appear under Alaska Shore Excursions on your bank/credit card statement. Credit card refunds are processed within 10 business days of the request. Exceptions to the refund policy include multi-day packages and some day tours. Please refer to the specific refund policy listed on the individual tour product page.

What type of clothing should I wear?

Warm layers, water-resistant/waterproof shoes, and warm socks. Activewear made of synthetic and water-wicking materials, fleece jacket, or windbreaker.

Will you hold my luggage for me?

For a worry-free day, we highly recommend storing your luggage at your hotel or the Seward Train Depot before embarking on the tour. We also recommend seeing if your cruise line can transfer your bags directly to your hotel or the Train Depot for you. We can hold your luggage, but only during the time of the tour.

Is there a minimum age to participate?

The minimum age to participate is 10 years old.

Will I see any wildlife or bears on this tour?

Wildlife is abundant in Alaska and sightings are possible on any tour. However, this is not a designated wildlife tour and nothing can be guaranteed.
